In the 2015, the Indonesian government announced the much-awaited vision, namely “maritime-axis doctrine†that puts fisheries, marine affairs and the fisheries sector as the main pillar of national economic development. Indonesian marine and fisheries development has adopted the concept of sustainable development paradigm “Blue Economy†(Pauli, 2010). Such a concept is the latest version of the green economy which is not only preserving and protecting ecosystems for sustainable use, the blue economy also puts the ecosystem as a subject and a model in the use of the ecosystem it self by focusing on community involvement (social inclusiveness), creativity and innovation that can manage products and services in an efficient manner. After success with first KRIPIK-Scifimas 2016, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty - Jenderal Soedirman University in collaboration with the Center for Maritime Biosciences Studies organized for the second a “Scientific Communication in Fisheries and Marine Sciences†(SciFiMaS) conference. The SciFiMas conference 2018 came from the idea of reunification of the vision and commitment of fisheries and marine stakeholders in Indonesia in order to support sustainable development through scientific communication based on the results of basic research, applied and frontier sciences in this field. Approximately 300-400 participants and invited guests from various organizations/institutions with diverse backgrounds both from government, businesses, communities and academia will be able to attend the activities for planned SciFiMas 2018.
